Hey everyone! Now that school is back in session for those who are still in school (and the dread of being an "adult" and a graduate setting in for the rest of us), it's about time we have another discussion post!
This time, I want to know what the:
1. Best advice you received as a new musician/marching band member/guard member/etc.
and
2. Best advice you can give to a new musician/marching band member/guard member/ etc.
is, because that's really part of what makes the band experience for a lot of people: how openly new members are accepted in, whether it be by their section or the whole band.

A little challenge~
Hello fellow band geeks! I thought I'd bring a little challenge to you all... to get some activity going and, hopefully, have a little fun.
The Challenge: draw a coat of arms/shield/banner that you feel best describes you, your instrument, and/or your journey through music! I'll include some links and images below to what Coats of Arms might look like, how to find some basics of heraldry, AND I'll include my own CoA that I made. :) Everyone who submits a CoA will get an image link in a blog post that I'll update once a week for this month. Can't wait to see your creativity flow!

I play the tuba, trombone, euphonium, flute, violin, ocarina, piano, and guitar. The instruments I practice the most are Tuba, Trombone, and Violin. I practice each for 2-3 hours a day. I start with scales, and I sight read from the internet or from my Rubank books. I have gotten 1st chair All-State, and have made All-district every year since 7th grade for tuba (I'm in 11th grade this year). I practice Trombone because I'm in Jazz band I'm also 1st chair. I practice Violin because its fun (wish my school had an orchestra).
